Using ParkPie

Last updated February 2026. By creating an account or using the ParkPie app you agree to these terms. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.

The service

ParkPie provides a map of parking restrictions in Melbourne, parking sign recognition using user-contributed and publicly available data, a parking session timer, and parking availability information derived from aggregated user session data.

Accuracy disclaimer: parking information provided by ParkPie is for general guidance only. Parking restrictions change frequently and our data may not reflect current signage. You are solely responsible for reading physical parking signs and complying with all applicable road rules and council regulations. ParkPie accepts no liability for fines, towing, or other consequences resulting from reliance on information displayed in the app. Always check the physical sign.

Your account

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at parkpie.owner@outlook.com if you suspect unauthorised access. You must be at least 13 years old to use ParkPie.

User contributions

When you submit parking sign images or data through the app you grant ParkPie a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, store, display, and incorporate that data into our service and dataset. You confirm that any content you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge and does not infringe any third-party rights. We reserve the right to review, reject, or remove any user-contributed content at our discretion.

Acceptable use

  • Do not submit false, misleading, or deliberately inaccurate parking data.
  • Do not attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or extract data from the app or our systems.
  • Do not use the app in any way that violates Australian law or local council regulations.
  • Do not interfere with the app's operation or other users' access to it.
  • Do not interact with the app while driving — always pull over safely before using ParkPie.

Intellectual property

All content, design, code, and data in ParkPie (excluding user contributions and third-party datasets) is owned by or licensed to ParkPie. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission. Third-party datasets are subject to their own licences, detailed in our Data Attribution page.

Availability

We do not guarantee that the app will be available at all times. We may suspend or discontinue the app or any feature at any time without notice and are not liable for any loss resulting from unavailability of the service.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law, ParkPie is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (if any). Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded by contract.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you breach these terms or engage in conduct harmful to other users or the integrity of the service. You may delete your account at any time via Settings › Account › Delete Account.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
